Volunteer Spotlight: Scott Schmidt

Oct 12, 2020 | By Jenna McCarthy

The production team here at BRAVE is one of the most critical roles, and often the most overlooked. Whether you attend virtually or in-person, all of the things that fall into place like sound, lighting, slides and video are thanks to many volunteers like Scott Schmidt.

Scott is married to Laila, who also serves on the production team in various capacities. As a couple, it's an excellent fit to volunteer together. They have two miniature schnauzers and love many outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, and traveling. Scott enjoys working with his hands and building things.

It's not just important; it's a responsibility.

His passion for creating makes him an excellent fit for the production team. He was one of the first to help BRAVE recruit the team for recording and uploading sermons so that anyone could access the message online. He says it not only became a responsibility to do his best work for the Kingdom, but this opportunity allowed him to be a better leader/follower at his job with the Bureau of Reclamation.

Scott's main reason for volunteering isn't just his passion for production, but his responsibility to the body and all the ancillary benefits that come with it. "I could spend hours writing about what I've learned from volunteering with so many incredible and talented people. God connects His people in many ways!"

There is a place for each person in the body to get involved. Scott and Laila found their spot in production, and BRAVE is better for their service. He encourages everyone to "get connected and watch how God works. He makes a way if you let Him take control of your life."
